For Better or Worse, a Mention

imagedbcgi.jpgBearing the Body, by Ehud Havazelet, was named one of the New York Times‘s 100 Notable Books of the Year. He’s in good company, with the likes of Tom Perrotta, Mario Vargas Llosa, Phillip Roth, Don DeLillo, and too many other literary bigwigs to mention in one pop. The list is available online now.

The connection to Forest Hills? The father of the book’s troubled main character (and with whom he has unresolved issues) lives in Forest Hills, and the beginning of Havazelet’s previous book, Like Never Before, a collection of interrelated short stories, is set in Forest Hills. I’m looking forward to reading Havazelet’s books, and not just because of the local angle.

Entry filed under: Forest Hills, literature, local notable, the arts, timely topic.
