I know the author and the book; I’m sure it will be an interesting event.

Who are the “Ethiopian Jews” and how did they become Jews? While the mass exodus of Ethiopian Jews to Israel in 1977 was an emotional event, filmed and photographed in striking images, what has their experience been in their spiritual homeland, as a profoundly different minority? Len Lyons, author of The Ethiopian Jews, will speak on the fascinating history of the Ethiopian Jews on Tuesday, November 27, at 1:30 p.m., at the Central Queens YM & YWHA in Forest Hills. In 1977 there were about 100 Ethiopian Jews in Israel; now there are more than 100,000. Their courageous exodus from their native land and their mass immigration to Israel is a unique historical event. However, 30 years after their arrival many Ethiopian Jews still struggle to find their place there, and to reconcile their new world with the world they left behind.
