Lawlessness and Disorder

There’s a bit of noise in the blogosphere about the latest development in the shooting of Forest Hills dentist Daniel Malakov. As reported by today’s NY Post, Mikhail Mallayev, who is accused of the murder, exchanged 65 phone calls with the victim’s ex-wife, Dr. Mazoltuv Borukhova. It’s a pretty damning piece of evidence against Mallayev. The Post relates this unpleasant moment in Kew Gardens:

The brother of slain dentist Daniel Malakov and others shouted in Russian at suspect Mikhail Mallayev, 50, being escorted from a Queens courtroom, where he was remanded without bail.

“Hang him up!” yelled Gavril Molokov [sic.].

Other taunts included, “Shoot him!” and “Take off his head!”

I’m doubt I’m alone in my creeping sense of lawlessness in this whole affair. Pissed at your ex? Knock him off. Catch the SOB who did it? Off with his head. This is not to imply one way or another who did what, but rather to express hope that there is an end in sight through plain old, trial-by-jury justice.
