A Closer Look

Good article in today’s (Sunday’s) NY Times about how the Bukharian community is bearing up since the murder of Dr. Daniel Malakov by his estranged wife. It’s the kind of closer look we’ve been hoping to see, given that the community is so tight-knit and community-oriented. One person’s happiness is everyone’s happiness. So, too, with tragedy.

For more of a look, see the excellent chapter on the Bukharians of Forest Hills and Rego Park in the book The World in a City by Joseph Berger.
