Kicking Off the Week

Some highlights of what’s being said in and around the neighborhood:

Denis Hammil invokes Kew Gardens with a piece on Harvey Elgart, owner of Cobble Hill Cinemas and the Kew Gardens Cinemas. The column leans more heavily toward Brooklyn, but that’s okay; we of central Queens know all about this hidden treasure. No bragging or celebs required.

Denizens of the “Food, Health, Family” section of Nerd NYC dialoged on the first few days of Tierra Sana. Splitting Hairs ate there on Day 2 and it was fine. Definitely there were some kinks in the service, it’s no place for kids, and protein is a must, but does Frank Bruni review restaurants in their first week? The consensus is that we all hope TS will thrive.

Has ForestHills72 jumped the snark? Comments in response to a post entitled “What Are You Doing Here?” indicated a bit of WTF-attitude fatigue. But since blogging is a voluntary act, and certainly a labor of love when it comes to the goings-on in Forest Hills, common sense and civility prevailed when 72 made name/e-mail registration mandatory. Already commenters are better behaved. At least those who have chosen to come out from behind the “anonymous” curtain are.
