Eating for Myself

I took the “Your [sic.] off the mark!” challenge and had dinner at the Bonfire Grill tonight. I actually sort of liked it. I see what people mean about the fries—they were pretty soggy and limp—and the guacamole was made from oxidized and bruised avocados instead of fresh ones, but the quesadilla and burger I sampled were both fine, the service was pleasant and efficient, and the crowd that gathered on both sides (restaurant and bar) was a nice mix.

It definitely has a certain sports-bar feel too it, but it wasn’t obnoxious. Overall, Bonfire will probably be okay for what it is: a neighborhood place where you can eat, hang out a bit, and run into people you know and meet a few new ones.

P.S. The full menu is still not in effect, but it’s coming “soon.”

I also ate there last night and completely agree with your comments — a mix of hit and miss. Maybe the kinks need to be worked out, or maybe that is how it will remain, which for me means I won’t be a regular, but an occasional, ordering what they make best. Some additional positives — very good service that was kid-friendly; a clean bathroom and properly served Blue Moon beer — with an orange slice! They are a fresh new face on the block and have potential. I intend to write them a note with a few constructive suggestions — and wait to see how they respond.

I just ate at the Bonfire Grill the other night and I can say I really enjoyed the food! I went with a few people and we all have different tastes so it was definitely nice that we were all able to order something we could enjoy. Will definetely be going back there and would recommend anyone trying it as well!
