Congestion Pricing Up in Smoke

That’s that. Some may celebrate, but to me, this is a step backwards and a sure sign that it will take years—if ever—to get anything close to a consensus on how NY should manage congestion. As if we have years to protect the lungs of our children and other vulnerable populations. It’s all very smuggy and smoggy in Albany today, but meanwhile we’re the ones who pay the price, one that is much higher than the proposed $8 entry fee below 60th St.

See, too, 2nd Ave. Sagas.

Bad day.

I was going to write a comment, but decided to write to Sheldon Silver instead: speaker@ assembly.state.ny.us.

i am thoroughly disgusted that nothing could have been worked out by now. i guess i shouldn’t be surprised, though. let’s hope people make their representatives pay come next election.

Any plan, anyTHING that happens in New York, is going to be a money grab on some level. But many of us do not need for it to be perfect. We need something we can live with because what we have now is more and more unlivable. And if it continues as such, the strong movement/trend to stay in the city (esp. for people with young kids) will experience a backlash, and people will reevaluate if its worth staying here after all, between the disappointing education options and the congestion.
