This is a very cool event (organized by terrific people) that Forest Hills residents might be interested in because it involves a poetry contest that any student in Queens grades 6–12 can enter. But go fast—the deadline is approaching.

POETRY FESTIVAL The Jackson Heights Poetry Festival is a 3 day event involving workshops taught by professors and poets, a poetry slam, and a series of poetry readings. A poetry contest for students in grades 6 – 12, will also be conducted, with the winners presenting their poetry in public readings during the Festival.
