About

A blog devoted to the people, events, and moments that enrich life in and around Forest Hills, as well as some of the things we wish were different. There is also the occasional off-subject rant or plug for things or ideas we believe readers will enjoy knowing about.

While the blog is run by KarBeth, it is only as good as our eyes and ears and, more importantly, your eyes and ears. So please send us your leads and links, visit often, and leave a comment so we know you’re out there. With your input, we can make this a site that has relevance.

Hi! I just found your blog and really enjoy it so far. I’d love for there to be a more cohesive community in Forest Hills, fostered as so many things are now, by the internet. To that end, when I became a parent earlier this year I was surprised that there were no community resources to speak of online for area parents. I just started a message board at http://www.foresthillsparents.yuku.com with the hopes that people will post tips, local info and much more I’d love it if you could check it out, leave me any input you may have or just start posting! As I said I just started this last week so there are not many involved- so I am trying to find other online blogs, etc to reach out to—-thanks for your time and I hope we get the parenting community together- why should Brooklyn have all the fun?
    Thanks- Amanda

    Hi Amanda–

Great to hear from you, and great idea to start a parenting message board, which has been a definite hole in the neighborhood. Splitting Hairs posts here and there on parenting issues (because I am one), so let’s stay in mutual blog/message board touch. I’ll visit soon, for sure, and try to be regular.

Congrats on becoming a new parent! And best wishes for 40 winks.

According to a sign in their window, this store will be coming to 70-54 Austin, next month. But for the life of me, I can’t figure out what it’s supposed to be. The claim is that “Now you can get products unique to the Internet in a real store dedicated to the best of the best!” Anyone have a clue as to what might mean?

I’ve passed by a few times and found no further clues. And that Web site–useless. And very crude, considering these is supposedly an Internet-related store.

I’m wondering if this is an Internet-for-dummies type setup, and if it is, what demographic the business is targeting. Most of the things listed on the placard are standard issue these days. Or people have access to teenagers who can show and/or teach them.

Hi! Looks like Weichert on Metropolitan has sponsored a farmers market! Would you please give us a nice review of the new market? Hopefully it will spread the news and get the market to stay?

Hello! Please check out our NEW website – it’s not at all “abysmal” and we’re promoting our Pilates classes, all taught by Robin Budnetz. Thank you for your consideration!
